Title: | The quality of the forage eaten by Norwegian reindeer on South Georgia in summer / Svein D. Mathiesen, Tove H. Aagnes Utsi. |
Author(s): | Mathiesen, Svein D. Aagnes Utsi, Tove H. |
Date: | 2000. |

Abstract: | Presents investigations of chemical composition and digestibility of plants selected by Rangifer tarandus tarandus on sub-Antarctic island in austral summer and compared with two qualities of grasses of Phleum pratense of European origin. Concludes that forage eaten on South Georgia in summer is of high quality, with low lignin content, moderate protein concentration, and high degradability in rumen fluid. |
