Record #156487:

Frågan som bränns / Annica Wennström.

Title: Frågan som bränns / Annica Wennström.
Translated title: The burning question.
Author(s): Wennström, Annica.
Date: 2000.
Language: Swedish.
In: Västerbotten. (2000.), Vol. 81(3) (2000)
Abstract: Emotional baggage is probably why Saami history is not treated in Sweden. It would tear apart picture of democratic Welfare State resting on sacred words "equality", "solidarity" and "impartiality". Silence, however, has blazed way for ignorance, prejudice and malignant agressiveness bordering on racism. Examples are car stickers reading "save a wolf - shoot a Saami". Similar attitude is shown towards immigrants. Historical sketch fills some background in. When c. half Swedes thought in 199 that Saami had been badly treated in 20th Cent., proportion was only 29% in Norrland.
Notes:
