Abstract: Takes Engenbre in Nordland as good example of dramatic changes with human consequences. There have been several Ice Ages in Quaternary, last 20 000 years ago. Little Ice Age culminated in latter half of 18th Cent. Moraines and devastated humus layer show where glacier reached to. Engenbre retreated nearly 2 km in 91 years up to 1974, mainly during last 40. Since then, mass balance has been positive, and there is prospect of some little icebergs on lake if advance goes another 100 m.
