Simulation of two-dimensional wind flow and snow drifting application for roads: Part I / S. Thordarson, H. Horem.
Title: | Simulation of two-dimensional wind flow and snow drifting application for roads: Part I / S. Thordarson, H. Horem. |
Author(s): | Thordarson, S. Horem, H. |
Date: | 2000. |
Publisher: | Rotterdam: A.A. Balkema |
In: | Snow engineering : recent advances and developments. Proceedings of the Fourth International Conference on Snow Engineering, Trondheim, Norway, 19-21 June, 2000. (2000.), |
Abstract: | Aims to simulate wind flow over original terrain profiles and flow over actual observed snowdrifts, and compare resulting friction velocity profiles with Askervein Hill data. Uses this to estimate drifting rate of snow, and effect and capacity of snowy areas. Confirms that plain wind simulation can aid identification of areas subject to large snowdrift sedimentation in two-dimensional profiles. |
