Med svenskene i Nordvestpassasjen / Susan Barr.

Title: Med svenskene i Nordvestpassasjen / Susan Barr.
Translated title: With the Swedes on the North-west Passage.
Author(s): Barr, Susan.
Date: 2000.
Language: Norwegian.
In: Polarboken. (2000.), Vol. 1999-2000 (2000)
Abstract: In two months of summer 1999 large Swedish scientific expedition visited Canadian Arctic in region of North-west Passage, carried out lots of work and revisited places with strong historic links. Author travelled in icebreaker Louis S. St.-Laurent with research team looking at lemmings, bird migration, freshwater ecosystems, climate change, pollution and magnetic Pole; movements of pole are interesting if birds use magnetic field in migration. She was interested in Norwegian remains in particular, but also in Inuit traces and names, many of which are returning into use, e.g. Uqsuqtoq/Gjoa Haven. She discusses Franklin Expedition's starvation/malnutrition/poisoning. Hull of Amundsen's Maud is crumbling at Cambridge Bay "and should be left there".
