Record #156105:

Phosphorus concentration and organic carbon preservation in the Blanknuten Member (Botneheia Formation, Middle Triassic, Sassenfjorden, Spitsbergen / Krzysztof P. Krajewski.

Title: Phosphorus concentration and organic carbon preservation in the Blanknuten Member (Botneheia Formation, Middle Triassic, Sassenfjorden, Spitsbergen / Krzysztof P. Krajewski.
Author(s): Krajewski, Krzysztof P.
Date: 2000.
In: Studia Geologica Polonica. (2000.), Vol. 116 (2000)
Abstract: Article tries to reconstruct depositional to diagenetic processes that led to increased contents of mineral phosphorus and organic carbon. Petrographic and geochemical analysis suggest enhanced preservation is result of excess production, deposition and diagenesis of marine organic matter on shelf under oxygen-deficient conditions. Oil-prone kerogen of Type II was preferred. Peloids and nodules appeared, dispersed in fine-grained facies or concentrated in granular phosphorite horizons, covered and stabilised by deep-water microbial mats at certain periods.
