Title: | Om schamanism under jägarstenålder och de norrländska hällmålningarnas symboliska betydelse / Anders Fandén. |

In: | Samefolket. (2000.), Vol. 81(9) (2000) |
Abstract: | Almost 20 such places are known, extending from c. 4000 BC to 500 BC. Paintings use reddish iron-based colour, probably mixed with blood, fat, urine and saliva. Commonest motif is elk, with human figures, geometric figures, snakes, bear, birds and reindeer. Interpretation is difficult, perhaps hunter magic. Author fancies shamanistic interpretation in line with Lena pictures of shaman and world tree. Åbosjön scene could be shaman preparing to mount his magical reindeer, or changing into one. At Häskotjärn, Jämtland, possible healing seance is described. |
