Lofoten i billedkunsten fram til 1920-årene / Per Posti.

Title: Lofoten i billedkunsten fram til 1920-årene / Per Posti.
Translated title: Lofoten in pictures up to 1920s.
Author(s): Posti, Per.
Date: 2000.
Language: Norwegian.
In: Ottar. (2000.), Vol. 5 (2000)
Abstract: At start of 19th Cent. Lofotens were seen as repulsive, with no natural beauty. By the end, all had changed, thanks to Bjørnson. Olaus Magnus described terrors of Maelstrom, but Romanticism took over, even for it. Artists involved include Peder Balke, Elijah Walton, Adelsteen Normann, who helped bring to notice Ole Juul and Gunnar Berg. Sharp peaks attracted Christian Krohg, island life drew Anna Boberg repeatedly and drama of rough seas attracted Einar Berger. Author's sample includes naive, romantic, naturalistic, realistic, art nouveau, cubist and expressionist styles.
