Abstract: Speakers at Ordkalotte in Tromsø described central importance of Laestadius in religious revival and in its consequences for Lule Saami. Writings included his "Voice in the wilderness", Crapula Mundi (world's drunkenness) and 1000-page "Serving in a Madhouse". Laestadious's mother was Lule Saami from Sorsele. Filip Mikkelsen from Saami Centre in Tysfjord gave address on his scientific appraisal and personal experience of Laestadianism. New beginnings at Tysfjord came with setting up centre; from c. 1995 wearing Saami tunic and learning Saami were taken up. Most Saami are now in Laestadian congregations.
