Lipids, trophic relationships, and biodiversity in Arctic and Antarctic krill / Stig Falk-Petersen, Wilhelm Hagen, Gerhard Kattner, Andrew Clarke, John Sargent.

Title: Lipids, trophic relationships, and biodiversity in Arctic and Antarctic krill / Stig Falk-Petersen, Wilhelm Hagen, Gerhard Kattner, Andrew Clarke, John Sargent.
Author(s): Falk-Petersen, Stig.
Hagen, Wilhelm.
Kattner, Gerhard.
Clarke, Andrew.
Sargent, John.
Date: 2000.
In: Canadian Journal of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences. (2000.), Vol. 57(3) (2000)
Abstract: Discusses critical role of environmental seasonality in structuring polar marine ecosystems, and uses data on lipids of Arctic and Antarctic euphausiids to show characteristic seasonally high lipid content, and accumulation of neutral lipids, either wax esters or triacylglycerols, for reproduction. Compares various Arctic and Antarctic herbivorous and omnivorous krill. In special issue Selections from Proceedings of the Second International Symposium on Krill.
