Record #155938:

Krill: a possible model for investigating the effects of ocean currents on the genetic structure of a pelagic invertebrate / Lorenzo Zane, Tomaso Patarnello.

Title: Krill: a possible model for investigating the effects of ocean currents on the genetic structure of a pelagic invertebrate / Lorenzo Zane, Tomaso Patarnello.
Author(s): Zane, Lorenzo.
Patarnello, Tomaso.
Date: 2000.
In: Canadian Journal of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences. (2000.), Vol. 57(3) (2000)
Abstract: Reviews published and new data on population genetics and systematics of krill and assesses role of dispersion in determining present-day distribution, based on phylogenetic analysis of Antarctic and sub-Antarctic Euphausia species. Discusses significance of formation of Antarctic Convergence as speciation event, and uses intraspecific data to show effects of oceanographic conditions in weak genetic differentiation of Antarctic krill, and discrete genetic pools of more structured northern krill. In special issue Selections from Proceedings of the Second International Symposium on Krill.
