Record #155804:

Permafrost below the timberline confirmed and characterized by geoelectrical resistivity measurements, Bever Valley, eastern Swiss Alps / Christof Kneisel, Christian Hauck, Daniel Vonder Mühll.

Title: Permafrost below the timberline confirmed and characterized by geoelectrical resistivity measurements, Bever Valley, eastern Swiss Alps / Christof Kneisel, Christian Hauck, Daniel Vonder Mühll.
Author(s): Kneisel, Christof.

In: Permafrost and Periglacial Processes. (2000.), Vol. 11(4) (2000)
Abstract: Geoelectric measurements show permafrost occurrence below timberline in Upper Engadine, Swiss Alps, though resistivities are low compared to other Alpine sites. Active layer is thin (though mean annual air temperatures are above 0° C) probably due to insulating organic layer. Finds one-dimensional DC resistivity soundings combined with two-dimensional DC resistivity tomography useful for mapping and characterising isolated permafrost occurrences on small scale.
