Record #155803:
Modern research perspectives relating to permafrost creep and rock glaciers: a discussion / Wilfried Haeberli.
Title: | Modern research perspectives relating to permafrost creep and rock glaciers: a discussion / Wilfried Haeberli. |
Author(s): | Haeberli, Wilfried. |
Date: | 2000. |
In: | Permafrost and Periglacial Processes. (2000.), Vol. 11(4) (2000) |
Abstract: | Clear outline of steps necessary towards modern assessment of ice and permafrost conditions. Emphasises need for precise definitions, especially over rock glaciers and glaciers. Varied modern techniques asset in measurement of field data. Quantitative treatment and numerical models should be used in assessing significance of, and interactions between, processes and conditions governing ice/debris transport systems in cold environments, particularly showing structure and stress factors. Encourages further research. |
Notes: | Permafrost and Periglacial Processes. Vol. 11(4) :290-293 (2000). |
Keywords: | 551.34 -- Geocryology. Frozen ground. 551.343.4 -- Rock glaciers. 551.345 -- Permafrost. Cryopedology. 519.673 -- Modelling. E8 -- Glaciology: frost action and permafrost. |
