Processes of sedimentation and foraminifera during the deglaciation period of the last glaciation in the Barents Sea / I.A. Pogodina, G.A. Tarasov.

Title: Processes of sedimentation and foraminifera during the deglaciation period of the last glaciation in the Barents Sea / I.A. Pogodina, G.A. Tarasov.

Abstract: In eastern Barents Sea cores from 16 shallow water wells were examined. Mineralogical, granulometric, petrographic, hydro-chemical and palaeontological analyses were carried out. Article concentrates on deglaciation of Valdai glaciation. During deglaciation fresh water entered basin on all levels, besides large amounts of terrigenous material. Eastern part may have been approximately fresh water. Replacement of brown clays by dark grey ones is probably connected with stratification of water mass. Sharp increase in foraminifera abundance in upper part of section agrees with unbalanced model of recolonisation after ecological stress.
