| Abstract: | Population monitoring programme consisted of one annual aerial survey in late winter and ground survey for population composition in August. Estimated population was 4000 with maximum of 4700 and minimum of 2800. Composition was similar to that of Banks Island, Canada, and of West Greenland. Lower counts of yearlings could have been caused by seismic operations or by climate difference. |
