Diversity of thermal responses of lipid composition in the membranes of the dominant culturable members of an Antarctic fellfield soil bacterial community / P. Lewis White, David D. Wynn-Williams, Nicholas J. Russell.
Title: | Diversity of thermal responses of lipid composition in the membranes of the dominant culturable members of an Antarctic fellfield soil bacterial community / P. Lewis White, David D. Wynn-Williams, Nicholas J. Russell. |
Author(s): | White, P. Lewis. Wynn-Williams, David D. Russell, Nicholas J. |
Date: | 2000. |
In: | Antarctic Science. (2000.), Vol. 12(3) (2000) |
Abstract: | Presents results of investigation of lipid composition of bacterial community including psychrophilic and psychrotolerant bacteria, from Signy Island, South Orkneys. Data show diverse range of responses utilized that may cross phylogenetic boundaries. Includes thermal dependence of growth rates; Polar lipid composition of selected Antarctic isolates; effects of growth temperature on phospholipid content and polar lipid fatty acid composition; and thermal adaptations in fatty acid composition in response to lower growth temperature. |
