Record #154843:

Permafrost investigation in the Schilthorn massif, Bernese Alps, Switzerland / Markus Imhof, Gilles Pierrehumbert, Wilfried Haeberli, Hans Kienholz.

Title: Permafrost investigation in the Schilthorn massif, Bernese Alps, Switzerland / Markus Imhof, Gilles Pierrehumbert, Wilfried Haeberli, Hans Kienholz.
Author(s): Imhof, Markus.
Pierrehumbert, Gilles.
Haeberli, Wilfried.
Kienholz, Hans.
Date: 2000.
In: Permafrost and Periglacial Processes. (2000.), Vol. 11(3) (2000)
Abstract: States that existing models for simulation of permafrost distribution need refinement where cover is shallow, and stresses importance of snow cover and ground thermal characteristics. Temperature at the snow base (BTS) is shown to depend on preceding snow depth. Gives map of permafrost distribution in Schilthorn massif.
