Title: | Molecular tools for understanding population structure in Antarctic species / Patrick M. Gaffney. |
Author(s): | Gaffney, Patrick M. |
Date: | 2000. |
In: | Antarctic Science. (2000.), Vol. 12(3) (2000) |
Abstract: | Discusses use of allozymes, mitochondrial DNA, nuclear DNA, coding regions, introns, and microsatellites in terms of utility as genetic markers in study of Antarctic marine resources species. Reviews application of various approaches to study of key Antarctic species Patagonian toothfish Dissostichus eleginoides, mackerel icefish Champsocephalus gunnari and squid Martialia hyadesi, and presents preliminary data on genetic polymorphisms in toothfish and icefish. |
