Acclimation of ecosystem CO₂ exchange in the Alaskan Arctic in response to decadal climate warming / Walter C. Oechel, George L. Vourlitis, Steven J. Hastings, Rommel C. Zulueta, Larry Hinzman, Douglas Kane.
Title: | Acclimation of ecosystem CO₂ exchange in the Alaskan Arctic in response to decadal climate warming / Walter C. Oechel, George L. Vourlitis, Steven J. Hastings, Rommel C. Zulueta, Larry Hinzman, Douglas Kane. |
Author(s): | Oechel, Walter C. Vourlitis, George L. Hastings, Steven J. Zulueta, Rommel C. Hinzman, Larry. Kane, Douglas. |
Date: | 2000. |
In: | Nature. (2000.), Vol. 406(6799) (2000) |
Abstract: | Compiles summer CO₂ flux data for two Arctic ecosystems from 1960 to end of 1998. Results show that return to summer sink activity has come during warmest and driest period observed over past four decades, and indicates previously undemonstrated capacity for ecosystems to metabolically adjust to long-term changes in climate. |
