Water activity as the determinant for homogeneous ice nucleation in aqueous solutions / Thomas Koop, Beiping Luo, Athanasios Tsias, Thomas Peter.

Title: Water activity as the determinant for homogeneous ice nucleation in aqueous solutions / Thomas Koop, Beiping Luo, Athanasios Tsias, Thomas Peter.
Author(s): Koop, Thomas.
Luo, Beiping.
Tsias, Athanasios.
Peter, Thomas.
Date: 2000.
In: Nature. (2000.), Vol. 406(6796) (2000)
Abstract: Shows that homogeneous nucleation of ice from supercooled aqueous solutions depends only on water activity of solution and pure water under same conditions, also that presence of solutes and application of pressure affect ice nucleation similarly. Presents thermodynamic theory for homogeneous ice nucleation, in agreement with observations from clouds containing ice.
