Abstract: Describes importance of weather information - for reconnaissance, ferrying aircraft from North America to UK, hiding and finding raiders such as Bismarck, and Murmansk convoys. Stages in setting up British (later US reinforced) weather service in Iceland and some particularly hairy operations, besides continual hazards, are described. Types of weather pattern and their effects on flying, hiding and finding are explained.
