Abstract: 11 seals, 4 pairs and 3 single pups, were tagged with satellite dive recorders in Kongsfjorden, Svalbard, in May 1994. Tracing lasted 21-258 days and comprised c. 207 000 dives. Movement was limited during nursing and moulting. Weaned pups dispersed coastally. Dive behaviour of adults was bi-modal, most shorter than 10 min. Data suggest lactation period of 24 days.
