Record #154255:

Mountain permafrost distribution based on BTS measurements and DC resistivity soundings in the Daisetsu Mountains, Hokkaido, Japan / Mamoru Ishikawa, Kazuomi Hirakawa.

Title: Mountain permafrost distribution based on BTS measurements and DC resistivity soundings in the Daisetsu Mountains, Hokkaido, Japan / Mamoru Ishikawa, Kazuomi Hirakawa.
Author(s): Ishikawa, Mamoru.
Hirakawa, Kazuomi.
Date: 2000.
In: Permafrost and Periglacial Processes. (2000.), Vol. 11(2) (2000)
Abstract: Uses BTS measurements and DC resistivity soundings to map mountain permafrost distribution and show geomorphological indicators for permafrost on Daisetsu Mountains, Hokkaido, Japan. High resistivity frozen layers were detected through DC resistivity soundings in most areas where lower BTS values had been measured. Finds permafrost widely distributed over wind-blown ground and snow-covered north-facing slopes above 2100 m, but sporadically between 1750 and 1900 m. Solar radiation and winter frost penetration control permafrost distribution in Daisetsu Mountains.
