Record #154139:

Changes in palsa distribution in relation to climate change in Laivadalen, northern Sweden, especially 1960-1997 / Frieda S. Zuidhoff, Else Kolstrup.

Title: Changes in palsa distribution in relation to climate change in Laivadalen, northern Sweden, especially 1960-1997 / Frieda S. Zuidhoff, Else Kolstrup.
Author(s): Zuidhoff, Frieda S.
Kolstrup, Else.
Date: 2000.
In: Permafrost and Periglacial Processes. (2000.), Vol. 11(1) (2000)
Abstract: Reports changes in distribution of palsas in most southerly habitat in Sweden, finding that number halved 1960-97, with no new palsas developing. Some now decaying palsas may have started to grow during late Little Ice Age. Suggests increase in mean annual temperature in last 100 years, especially since 1930s, and in conjunction with increased snowfall, may be cause of decay.
