Record #154005:
Bats about the Arctic / Peter D. Moore.
Title: | Bats about the Arctic / Peter D. Moore. |
Author(s): | Moore, Peter D. |
Date: | 2000. |
In: | Nature. (2000.), Vol. 404(6777) (2000) |
Abstract: | Discusses question why bats fly at night. In northern Norway, seems that it is to avoid competition for food. Northern bats, Eptesicus nilssonii, were compared with sand martins, Riparia riparia, and to some extent with bat-eating raptors. Bats hunted in polar summer during martins' rest period. However, neither species was abundant, so competition was not fierce. |
Notes: | Nature. Vol. 404(6777) :446-447 (2000). |
Keywords: | 591.131.1 -- Animal feeding behaviour. 599.34 -- Chiroptera: Eptesicus nilssonii. H6 -- Zoology: mammals. (*3) -- Arctic regions. (*58) -- Norway. |
