Date: 1999.
In: Antarctic CRC. Research Report. (1999.), Vol. 14 (1999)
Abstract: Provides detailed observation protocol for making systematic and quantifiable observations of sea ice thickness and characteristics from ships transiting Antarctic pack ice, endorsed by SCAR Antarctic Sea Ice Processes and Climate (ASPeCt) programme. Part I includes codes and guidelines for quantifying ice and snow thickness, floe size and topography; observed seasonal cycle of sea ice and snow thickness distribution for 1986-1996; blank and completed observation sheets. Part II is user operating manual for computer programme for entering, quality controlling and processing ship-based observations. To be read in conjunction with CD-ROM Observing Antarctic sea ice: a practical guide for conducting sea ice observations from vessels operating in the Antarctic pack ice.
