Model and field performance of a sloped block ice control structure / J.H. Lever, G. Gooch.
Title: | Model and field performance of a sloped block ice control structure / J.H. Lever, G. Gooch. |
Author(s): | Lever, J. H. Gooch, G. |
Date: | 1998. |
Publisher: | Rotterdam: A.A. Balkema |
In: | Ice in surface waters. Proceedings of 14th International Symposium on Ice, Potsdam, NY, USA, 27-31 July 1998. (1998.), |
Abstract: | Compares performance of low-cost structure to control breakup ice jams in small rivers with results from similar model test. As jam-initiation surge was half amplitude of model surge, it caused more porous thinner toe, so field jam released after 3 hours, whilst model structure held jam. Harsher breakup event needed to assess design further. |
