Abstract: Employs two-dimensional discrete element model to simulate rafting and ridging in floating ice sheets and compares accuracy with similar model experiments. Uses computer model to find effect of thickness and thickness variation on this process. By analysing energetics, shows transitional behaviour between ridging and rafting.
