Record #153524:

A statistical basis for the strength of columnar-grain ice / Lorne W. Gold.

Title: A statistical basis for the strength of columnar-grain ice / Lorne W. Gold.
Author(s): Gold, Lorne W.
Date: 1998.
Publisher: Rotterdam: A.A. Balkema
In: Ice in surface waters. Proceedings of 14th International Symposium on Ice, Potsdam, NY, USA, 27-31 July 1998. (1998.),
Abstract: Studies influence of crack formation on strength and failure of ice, particularly associated with uniaxial stress, using grain sizes less than and greater than 5 mm. Estimates strain-rate dependent crack density at yield and failure for ice of grain size less than 5 mm and temperature of -10°C. Points to possible use of crack damage in rheological models.
