Record #153524:
A statistical basis for the strength of columnar-grain ice / Lorne W. Gold.
Title: | A statistical basis for the strength of columnar-grain ice / Lorne W. Gold. |
Author(s): | Gold, Lorne W. |
Date: | 1998. |
Publisher: | Rotterdam: A.A. Balkema |
In: | Ice in surface waters. Proceedings of 14th International Symposium on Ice, Potsdam, NY, USA, 27-31 July 1998. (1998.), |
Abstract: | Studies influence of crack formation on strength and failure of ice, particularly associated with uniaxial stress, using grain sizes less than and greater than 5 mm. Estimates strain-rate dependent crack density at yield and failure for ice of grain size less than 5 mm and temperature of -10°C. Points to possible use of crack damage in rheological models. |
Notes: | In: Ice in surface waters. Proceedings of 14th International Symposium on Ice, Potsdam, NY, USA, 27-31 July 1998 / Hung Tao Shen, ed. |
