Record #153494:
Connections between oceanic conditions off N-Iceland, Lake Mývatn temperature, regional wind direction variability and the North Atlantic Oscillation / Jón Ólafsson.
Title: | Connections between oceanic conditions off N-Iceland, Lake Mývatn temperature, regional wind direction variability and the North Atlantic Oscillation / Jón Ólafsson. |
Author(s): | Ólafsson, Jón. |
Date: | 1999. |
In: | Rit Fiskideildar. (1999.), XVI (1999) |
Abstract: | Northern Iceland oceanic conditions are governed by relative strengths of northern and southern influences - warmer, saline Atlantic water, cold, fresher Polar water, North Icelandic winter water, and Arctic intermediate water. 55% of hydrographic variation is from local wind frequency changes Jan to May. Lake water temperature in spring is connected to air temperature, partly led by oceanic temperature off north. |
Notes: | Rit Fiskideildar. XVI :41-57 (1999). |
Keywords: | 551.46 -- Oceanography, physical. 551.526 -- Water surface, temperature. 551.524 -- Air temperature. 556 -- Hydrology. C -- Oceanography, hydrography and hydrology. (*3) -- Arctic regions. (*616) -- Iceland waters. |
