Abstract: Presents overview of set of experiments (INTERICE project) conducted in Arctic Environmental Test Basin (AETB) at Hamburg Ship Model Basin. Assesses feasibility of multidisciplinary studies. Ice-growth experiments studied evolution of microstructure and physico-chemical characteristics of ice together with development of sea-ice biological communities within boundary conditions. Found viable community of sea-ice organisms, mostly affected by thermal forcing and light. Also studied particles in ice cover and interaction between waves and ice.
