Abstract: Explains interests of St Barbara, whose 15th Cent. statue is in Andenes church. Her life, martyrdom and symbols, particularly 3-windowed (for Trinity) tower of imprisonment, are described. Story of her refuge in cave made her available to miners, care for those dying unshriven made her patroness of sailors and soldiers, especially artillerymen. Final section describes Mass on saint's day for Austrian and French tunnelers joining Danish Fyn and Sjaelland.
