Isotopic characteristics of ice cover in a large northern river basin / J.J. Gibson, T.D. Prowse.

Title: Isotopic characteristics of ice cover in a large northern river basin / J.J. Gibson, T.D. Prowse.
Author(s): Gibson, J. J.
Prowse, T. D.
Date: 1998.
Publisher: Rotterdam: A.A. Balkema
In: Ice in surface waters. Proceedings of 14th International Symposium on Ice, Potsdam, NY, USA, 27-31 July 1998. (1998.),
Abstract: Discusses survey in Liard River basin, March 1997, of potential for use of isotopic methods in studying winter flow characteristics. Liard River is largest tributary of Mackenzie River, downstream of Great Slave Lake, Canada. Shows winter streamflow is relatively stable along main river, though isotopic enrichment occurs from tributaries draining discontinuous permafrost wetlands. Suggests further study required.
