Samernas skatteland. Med särskild syftning på tiden efter 1750 (II) / Lennart Lundmark.
Title: | Samernas skatteland. Med särskild syftning på tiden efter 1750 (II) / Lennart Lundmark. |
Translated title: | Saami taxed land. With special reference to the time after 1750 (II). |
Author(s): | Lundmark, Lennart. |
Date: | 1999. |
Language: | Swedish. |
In: | Samefolket. (1999.), Vol. 81(2) (1999) |
Abstract: | Continues account in 1/2000 of how Saami gradually lost rights to their lands. Exception was John Nordström, former professor of people's and state law at Helsinki, who said in Sweden in 1871 that Saami had controlled their lands before they came under Sweden and Norway. In Jämtland, Saami were taken into Taxed Mountains from 1820s. Debates of 1880s and 1890s are described. In Jämtland it was suggested that solution was simply to forego tax - something Saami did not want. In Norrbotten taxed land was left alone. Six groups of Lapp settlements were recognised in 1914, from Malå to South Vilhelmina. Kaisa Korpijaakko-Labba's contribution to discussion is described. |
