Record #153222:
Greenland ice sheet elevation change since 1978 from radar and laser altimetry / R. Thomas, and 6 others.
Title: | Greenland ice sheet elevation change since 1978 from radar and laser altimetry / R. Thomas, and 6 others. |
Author(s): | Thomas, R. |
Date: | 1999. |
In: | Polar Geography. (1999.), Vol. 23(3) (1999) |
Abstract: | Reports satellite radar altimetry for surface elevation change for southern half of Greenland Ice Sheet 1978-88, and aircraft laser altimetry 1993-98. Shows ice sheet in balance, with small zones of change. Radar altimetry found reliable in areas with low surface slopes. Explains differences between results by changes in near-surface snow conditions or variability in snow accumulation rates. |
