Abstract: Clupea harengus were distributed along coast from 57deg. to 69deg.N. Biomass and abundance figures were 7.1 million tons and 27.6 billion individuals from 61 to 69deg.N and 99 000 t and 323 million from 57 to 60deg.N. 1991 and 1992 classes dominated spawning stock, with 1991 proportion increasing northwards. Size, maturity and condition improved southwards. Report also describes distribution of salinity and temperature.
