Title: Klimautviklingen i Troms and Vesterålen de siste 26 000 år / Karl-Dag Vorren, Christin Jensen, Torbjørn Alm.
Translated title: Climate development in Troms and Vesterålen in the last 26 000 years.

Abstract: Article shows how plant remains in peat and freshwater sediments can yield information on climate change in North Norway since Ice Age maximum. Reconstruction leads to eight main periods: 26 000-15800, 15800-13300, 13300-11500, 11500-10 000 (start of Holocene), 10 000-9500, 9500-8500, 8500-5700 and 5700-0 before now. Pollen of birch is used to estimate July mean temperature, with allowance made for seasons when pollen was only from distant, warmer sources.
