Abstract: Describes effects of slow, natural climate changes in Barents Sea, on Svalbard and on Greenland. These include ice caps, lower sea level and beach deposits, with their effects on air streams. Fossils of plants and animals give tighter information. Weichselian ice age was itself fluctuating, with climatic instability. Eemian was warmer than today. Scoresby Sound had birch. In Peary Land today fjord ice no longer breaks up in summer. Arctic here is re-entering deep freeze.
