Map comparison or traditional mass-balance measurements: which method is better? / Gunnar Østrem, Nils Haakensen.

Title: Map comparison or traditional mass-balance measurements: which method is better? / Gunnar Østrem, Nils Haakensen.
Author(s): Østrem, Gunnar.
Haakensen, Nils.
Date: 1999.
In: Geografiska Annaler. Series A. Physical Geography. (1999.), Vol. 81A(4) (1999)
Abstract: Makes comparison between large-scale glacier maps produced for field work and data processing of Norwegian glaciers in 1960s for long-term mass-balance measurements and conventional mass-balance measurements. Some errors originate in field, particularly on glaciers with large winter accumulation, and certain errors are difficult to define and determine. Penetration of heavy snow layers with stakes and probes can cause problems.
