Record #152827:

Latitudinal gradients in species richness in northern areas: some exceptional pattern / Jari Kouki.

Title: Latitudinal gradients in species richness in northern areas: some exceptional pattern / Jari Kouki.
Author(s): Kouki, Jari.
Date: 1999.
In: Ecological Bulletins. (1999.), Vol. 47 (1999)
Abstract: Discusses exceptions to rule that species diversity decreases from lower to higher latitudes. Focuses on birds breeding in northern peatlands and sawflies in boreal and Arctic areas. Argues that in such cases amount of available havbitat and/or its heterogeneity may override other factors tending to lead to decrease in species diversity.
