Record #152765:

Temporal changes of Glaciar Mayo and Laguna Escondida, southern Patagonia, detected by remote sensing data / Pedro Skvarca, Martin Stuefer, Helmut Rott.

Title: Temporal changes of Glaciar Mayo and Laguna Escondida, southern Patagonia, detected by remote sensing data / Pedro Skvarca, Martin Stuefer, Helmut Rott.
Author(s): Skvarca, Pedro.
Stuefer, Martin.
Rott, Helmut.
Date: 1999.
Abstract: In special issue: Glaciers of the Southern Hemisphere. Using various methods, between 1970 and 1994, finds changes in surface velocity of terminus and ice-dammed lake in ablation area of Glaciar Mayo, southern Patagonia. Retreat of Glaciar Mayo agrees with recession for most Patagonian glaciers over last 30 years. Two rock-fall debris bands across terminus show up well. Flow behaviour appears stable for past 25 years.
