Abstract: In special issue: Glaciers of the Southern Hemisphere. Measures snowlines over 21 years on 48 glaciers in Southern Alps of New Zealand for links between atmospheric circulation and mass balance changes. Shows atmospheric circulation patterns exert strong control over elevation and slope of surface with tilt across Alps, but little along Alps.
