Record #152749:

Energy balance estimates during the summer season of glaciers of the Antarctic Peninsula / Christoph Schneider.

Title: Energy balance estimates during the summer season of glaciers of the Antarctic Peninsula / Christoph Schneider.
Author(s): Schneider, Christoph.
Date: 1999.
Abstract: Monitored seasonal development of snow cover on McClary Glacier and Northeast Glacier, Marguerite Bay, Antarctic Peninsula in order to detect reactions to variations in climate using three automatic weather stations (AWS) and information from 40 snow pits, 1994-95. Data from AWS correlated well with changes in snow pits. Turbulent heat fluxes account for over half summer-time energy budget at snow surface, with sensible heat main energy source for ablation. Present equilibrium line near sea-level. Assumes further warming will cause ablation zone to develop on these two glaciers In special issue: Glaciers of the Southern Hemisphere.
Notes:

Offprint: Global and Planetary Change. Vol. 22(1-4) :117-130.
