Record #152654:

Sustainable development and mass media in the Arctic: the case of the Inuit Circumpolar Communications Commission / Marianne Stenbaek.

Title: Sustainable development and mass media in the Arctic: the case of the Inuit Circumpolar Communications Commission / Marianne Stenbaek.
Author(s): Stenbaek, Marianne.
Date: 1999.
Publisher: Aldershot: Ashgate Publishing Company
In: Dependency, autonomy, sustainability in the Arctic. (1999.),
Abstract: Describes history of ICCC and its successors, Inuit's own essential medium, for all its faults. Early collaboration needed expensive PAL-NTSC converter in 1980s for TV; it still functions. Exchange was ended for some time by copyright issue. Inuit input into mainline films would have corrected glib views about their way of life. At least Inuit Broadcasting System portrays animals as Inuit see them.
