Record #152614:

Analysis of winter and summer glacier balances / Mark B. Dyurgerov, Mark F. Meier.

Title: Analysis of winter and summer glacier balances / Mark B. Dyurgerov, Mark F. Meier.
Author(s): Dyurgerov, Mark B.
Meier, Mark F.
Date: 1999.
In: Geografiska Annaler. Series A. Physical Geography. (1999.), Vol. 81A(4) (1999)
Abstract: In special issue on Methods of Mass Balance Measurements and Modelling. Finds seasonal mass balance components as well as total accumulation and ablation can be used directly to infer climate variables, though net balance cannot. However, traditional Alpine system of observations can be converted to true seasonal values if both pairs of components are observed simultaneously for some years. Analyses data from 50 glaciers in Northern Hemisphere, and correlations between seasonal components. Two-thirds of glaciers show insignificant correlations.
