Record #152541:

The motion field of northern Larsen Ice Shelf, Antarctic Peninsula, derived from satellite imagery / Wolfgang Rack, Helmut Rott, Andreas Siegel, Pedro Skvarca.

Title: The motion field of northern Larsen Ice Shelf, Antarctic Peninsula, derived from satellite imagery / Wolfgang Rack, Helmut Rott, Andreas Siegel, Pedro Skvarca.
Author(s): Rack, Wolfgang.
Rott, Helmut.
Siegel, Andreas.
Skvarca, Pedro.
Date: 1999.
In: Annals of Glaciology. (1999.), Vol. 29 (1999)
Abstract: Gives analysis of northern Larsen Ice Shelf, Antarctic Peninsula, based on satellite data and comparative field measurements taken during period 1986-97. Northern sections showed steady retreat, with two ice-shelf sections disintegrating in January 1995. Slight increase in velocity was observed before this event. Interoferometric motion analysis showed complex pattern of tidal flexure in grounding zones, and rifting and shear zones on ice shelf; also derived motion of main input glaciers.
