Morphology and variations of glacial drainage basins in the King George Island ice field, Antarctica / Jefferson C. Simões, Ulisses F. Bremer, Francisco E. Aquino, Francisco A. Ferron.
Title: | Morphology and variations of glacial drainage basins in the King George Island ice field, Antarctica / Jefferson C. Simões, Ulisses F. Bremer, Francisco E. Aquino, Francisco A. Ferron. |
Author(s): | Simões, Jefferson C. Bremer, Ulisses F. Aquino, Francisco E. Ferron, Francisco A. |
Date: | 1999. |
In: | Annals of Glaciology. (1999.), Vol. 29 (1999) |
Abstract: | Uses SPOT mosaic of King George Island, Antarctica, to show major morphological features. Delineates three ice domes and 70 glacier drainage basins, covering 93% of island area. Finds general retreat of ice fronts during 1956-95, especially on eastern side. Estimates transient snowline elevation to have risen from 200-250 m in mid-1950s to 300--350 m by 1988. |
Notes: | Annals of Glaciology. Vol. 29 :220-224 (1999). Sixth International Symposium on Antarctic Glaciology (ISAG-6), 5--9 September 1998, Lanzhou, China, T.H. Jacka (Editor) |
