| Abstract: | Describes X-ray transmission method developed to obtain continuous profile of bulk densities of ice cores. Applies this to Dome Fuji, Antarctica, ice cores from surface to 110 m depth, and from density profile obtained, calculates power spectrum of density variation by discrete Fourier transform, obtaining several peaks at different frequencies. Centre period in spectrum was near to annual accumulation thickness at drill site. |
