Abstract: Presents and discusses results from ground-based radio-echo sounding in 1995 and 1996-97 in drainage basin of Lange Glacier, King George Island, Antarctica. Ice-thickness and bedrock-elevation maps show relation between surface and subglacial topography and indicate main directions of runoff. Glacier has retreated by 1km since 1956, though neighbouring glacier advanced and northern ice-cap margin on island was stationary. Further studies are needed to understand different responses of these ice masses to current climate warming.
