Abstract: Presents model for ice flow in polar ice sheet including effect of anisotropic-flow enhancement in tertiary creep as ice progresses through range of stress regimes. Applied to transect from summit of Law Dome, Antarctica, to Cape Folger, finds good agreement in upper layers between profiles from model and borehole-inclination measurements. Modifications of model predictions for high shear strain rates in lower layers are needed to match observed surface velocities.
